BREECH BABY ACUPUNCTURE

Holistic Acupuncture sandy feet

Between week 32 and 36, it is expected that most babies settle into a head-down position, which is the best position for birth. Breech presentation means that the baby’s bottom is closest to the cervix and delivered before the head. In malposition,  the baby’s head is down, however not in the best position. The best position for the baby to be in is termed a “well-flexed anterior position, meaning that the baby has its head down, with its back against your abdomen and facing your back.

MOXIBUSTION AND BREECH BABY

Studies (1)(2)(3)(4) support the use of Moxibustion at an acupuncture point located on the corner of the nail of the 5th toe, may encourage to correct non-vertex presentation when used between 33 and 35 weeks of gestation.(2)

Moxa is usually applied over several nights, or until the baby has turned itself. Women will also be given moxa sticks to continue the course of treatment at home.
